TBPO softball cricket competition ends this Sunday

The 2012 edition of the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organisation T/20 competition ends this Sunday at the Dauphine Playing Field, with the hosting of the finals from 1 p.m.{{more}}

Before that though, the finalists will be decided at the semi-finals on Saturday.

From 1 p.m., CGM Novice face Glen United and from 3 p.m., Gomea Bombers take on Gairy’s Construction Simple Boys

The semi-finalists were determined, following last weekend’s quarter-finals.

First to make their mark was Novice, who got past ASCO by 32 runs on Saturday.

Hyron Shallow struck 61 and Andre Hunte 31 not out, as Novice posted 140 for 8 from their 20 overs. Bowling for ASCO, Kevin Harry had 3 for 18.

In response, ASCO reached 108 for 9 in their 20 overs. Roger Gibson top scored with 31, as Andre Hunte picked up 4 for 8 and Roderick John 4 for 18.

On Sunday morning, Glen United overcame Dr Thomas Injectors by 7 wickets.

Injectors scored 122 for 9 from their 20 overs, led by Ronnick Daniel who hit 53.

Bowling for Glen, Kerwin Browne took 3 for 14 and Cassius Welcome 3 for 22.

Glen then replied with 124 for 3 in 19 overs. Henderson Morgan 50 not out and Marcus Hackshaw 28, were Glen’s principal scorers.

Also on Sunday, Gomea Bombers stopped Nar Fren Dem by 33 runs.

Gomea, taking first strike, reached 117 for 8 from their maximum 20 overs. Bernard Bushay led the scoring with 31 not out and Randell Holder contributed 21

Kenford Collins — 3 for 25, Zeron Harry — 2 for 19 and Travis Peters – 2 for 30, shared the wickets for Nar Fren Dem, but in reply, they fell for 84 all out in 19.4 overs.

Rickey King — 3 for 10, Bernard Bushay — 2 for 10 and Kemron John — 2 for 7, ensured Gomea Bombers a place among the last four.

And, Gairy’s Construction Simple Boys made light work of Nex Level, beating them by 7 wickets.

Travis Cumberbatch — 4 for 17; Casmond Walters — 3 for 14 and Eldon Morris — 2 for 11, conjured up to dismiss Nex Level for 66 in 15.5 overs.

Simple Boys cantered to 72 for 3 in 7.1 overs. Casmond Walters struck 32. Bowling for Nex Level, Courtney Joyette picked up 2 for13.

Sunday’s final will be preceded by the third place play-off, featuring the two losing semi-finalists.
