RSVG Police lose again in Top Belair softball competition

Reigning champions of the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organisation Twenty/20 Softball Cricket Competition RSVG Police went under to Nar Fren Dem Saturday at the Dauphine Playing Field.{{more}}

Police made 91 all out in 13.3 overs, with Osrick James making 22.

Bowling for Nar Fren Dem, Travis Peters took 2 for 24 and Keno Matthews 2 for 26.

In reply, Nar Fren Dem made 93 for 6 in 13 overs. Jamal John hit 25 and Zeron Harry 24 not out. Elmore Alexander had 2 for 20 and Malcolm Alexander 2 for 24, in a losing cause for RSVG Police.

Nar Fren Dem was rebounding from a 19-run defeat at the hands of Nex Level, as they played back-to-back matches.

Nex Level batted first and posted 114 for 9 in 20 overs, led by Felix Baptiste’s 23 and Kesworth Lewis’ 20.

Nar Fren Dem’s bowling was powered by Damron Prince, who had 3 for 23, Kenford Collins — 2 for 5, and Keno Matthews — 2 for 31.

But in reply, Nar Fren Dem could only make 95 all out in 17.4 overs.

Jamal John, with 38, was Nar Fren Dem’s batting spark, as the bowling combination of Elroy Cumberbatch — 3 for 14 , Courtney Joyette — 2 for19 and Travis Trimmingham — 2 for 20, carved out their team’s 19 run win.

On Sunday, ASCO overcame Clinchers by 8 wickets.

Clinchers’ 135 for 6 in 20 overs, saw Okeiph Andrews making 48 and Brian Saunders 37, not out. Bowling for ASCO, Damian Chance had 2 for 22 and Deron Bute picked up 2 for 23.

ASCO then romped to 140 for 2 in 16.5 overs. Their response was masterminded by Clifford Williams, who struck 49, and Deron Bute, who compiled 43.

Also on Sunday, Glen United outplayed Bank of SVG All Stars by 9 wickets.

All Stars’ innings closed at 134 for 4 from their allotment of 20 overs. Nyron De Souza with 27 and Glenroy Dasent 23, were their main contributors.

Henderson Morgan scorched 80 not out and Marcus Hackshaw 33 not out, as All Stars raced to 135 for 1 in 12.4 overs.

And, Gairy construction Simple Boys dimmed Sunset Strikers by 6 wickets.

Casmond Walters — 3 for 1, and Eldon Morris — 2 for 7, saw off Sunset Strikers to 29 for 8 in 15 overs.

Simple Boys, though, made heavy weather of the response, reaching 30 for 4 in 6 overs. Anthoniel Palmer grabbed 4 for 8, bowling for Sunset Strikers. (RT)
