Another full slate of matches set for this weekend in Biabou Twenty/20 competition

There were wins for Shot Gun XI, Clinchers, Glen United, Simple Boys and South Rivers last weekend as the Biabou Twenty/20 Softball Cricket competition staged a full slate of five matches at the Biabou Playing Field.{{more}}

On Saturday, Shot Gun XI defeated Y De Lima Hot Spurs by 7 runs.

Shot Gun XI posted 199 for 9 from their 20 overs. Drumo Toney made 24. Bowling for Hot Spurs, Donaldson Harry took 3 for 19 and Quesnel Cottoy had 3 for 30.

Hot Spurs, in reply, reached 102 for 9 in their 20 overs, undone by the bowling of Kazim Haywood, who picked up 3 for 14, and Lenroy Danzine — 2 for 9.

Also on Saturday, Clinchers overcame Simon Patriots by 124 runs.

Javon Nero hit 44 and Osnet Cato 35, to lead Clinchers to 169 for 8 from their 20 overs. Simon Patriots’ main wicket takers were Leon Baptiste, who had 3 for 5, and Sunil Cupid with 2 for 44.

The Patriots were sent tumbling for 45 all out, with Omar Shortte making 20.

Peter Richards, with 5 for 7, Curlon John, 2 for 23, and Javon Nero, 2 for 3, ensured the Patriots’ lame response.

On Sunday, Glen United recorded a 29-run win over Dr Thomas Injectors.

Ron Adams struck 40 and Marcus Hackshaw lashed 30, to see Glen United to 115 for 5 in their 20 overs. Roderick Daniel was Dr Thomas Injectors’ most successful bowler, grabbing 2 for 16.

Dr Thomas Injectors, at their turn, were strangled at 86 for 6 from their 20 overs. Ridley Peters, with 19, was their topscorer, as Kerwin Browne, 3 for 7, and Ron Adams, 2 for 16, held their opponents’ batting in check.

Also triumphing on Sunday was Simple Boys, who made light work of Biabou United.

Desron Maloney snared 3 for 11 and Eldon Morris 3 for 14, as Biabou was dismissed for 51.

Maloney then hit 25 not out and Roderick John 21, to see Simple Boys to 54 for 1, and a win by 9 wickets.

And, South Rivers Wings saw off Shot Gun XI by 3 wickets.

Shot Gun XI made 75. Drumo Toney topscored with 22, as Marvin Small grabbed 3 for 11 and Deighton Butler 3 for 18.

South Rivers Wings responded with 76 for 7 in 13 overs.

Kadier Nedd led the victory chase with 32. Bowling for Shot Gun XI, Courtney Mc Donald took 3 for 11.

Another five matches are carded for this weekend at the same venue. (RT)
