Valley Netters bag the double for a second year
For the second year in a row, Bank of SVG Valley Netters were crowned double champions of the Western Union Senior Division of the Barrouallie Netball competition.{{more}}
Valley Netters added the Knockout title to their trophy stack, when they saw off a spirited Barrouallie Cooperative Credit Union (BCCU) Star Girls 33-31, Saturday at the Keartons hard court.
As rain descended on the venue, both teams had to ride over the conditions. BCCU Star Girls started well, but faltered in the second period of the match, giving Valley Netters another lien on the title.
Preceding the senior Knockout finals, the Vita Malt Under-16 Division was also a keenly contested affair, as new-comers Layou Orions were in search of the double as well.
Last yearâs double champions, Rising Stars, retained the Knockout title, inflicting a heart breaking 18-17 defeat on Layou Orions as the spoils were shared.
The presentation ceremony will take place at a date and venue to be announced by the organisers, the Netball Committee of the Barrouallie Sports Association.
