SVGAA, STAC Byera Hill Sprint a success
A week after a successful drag race event at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex, the St Vincent and the Grenadines Automobile Association (SVGAA) and the Street Tuners Auto Club (STAC) hosted the long anticipated Byera Hill Sprint on Sunday,.{{more}}
The Byera Hill Sprint is an open road rally style race and was very well attended by patrons and fans who were privy to fantastic driving skills of some of the countryâs best drivers.
The event saw seven cars classified under two categories: 2WD and 4WD.
Outstanding driving allowed the fans to witness record-breaking runs in both categories.
In the 2WD category, the superb driving skills of Shawndy St Hillaire, driving a Honda Civic, saw the record fall with an outstanding time of 47.1 seconds.
Second place went to Steve Ollivierre, driving the Hyundai Accent, with a time of 47.4 seconds.
Ali Clouden took third place in his Mitsubishi Mirage, in 48.9 seconds, while Keron King rounded up in fourth place in 52.2 seconds, driving his Toyota Levin.
The 4WD category brought excitement to the fans, with some excellent driving from all the racers.
This high-powered category saw fan favourite Franklyn King push his Mitsubishi Evolution IV to a record breaking 43.2 seconds, to take first place.
Close behind was another Mitsubishi Evolution IV, driven by Omrey Mayers, who posted 44.9 seconds.
Rounding up the third place was Jason Moussa, driving his Nissan Pulsar, with a time of 48.8 seconds.
This event was again a fun-filled family day, which is a great push for motor sports in St Vincent and the Grenadines and would not have been possible without the sponsors, Dekieâs Autozone, Carib Beer, The Hookup, R.C. Enterprises Ltd, and the SVGAA and STAC teams, organisers said.
Organisers thanked the Rainbow Radio League, Traffic Department, the Carnival Development Corporation, Medcare Ambulance Service, and the marshalls and officials.
The next event, which is planned for Independence weekend at the end of October, should see drivers and cars from other islands visiting to compete against top local drivers in various events over two days.
