Police sends early warning in Belair cricket competition
RSVG Police has sent an early warning to the 19 other teams in the Top Belair Progressive Organisation (TBPO) Twenty/20 Softball Cricket Competition that they mean business again.{{more}}
The law enforcers are defending champions of the National Lotteries Authority-sponsored tournament.
When the competition bowled off on Saturday at the Dauphine Playing Field, the law officers crushed Georgie Valley Stars by 136 runs.
The law officers, led by Renrick Cato, who made 56 not out, and Kenroy Martin, who struck 53, compiled 175 for 4 from their 20 overs.
Apart from Martin and Catoâs contributions, Georgie Valley Stars conceded 59 extras.
In response, Georgie Valley Stars were dismissed for 39. Kenroy Martin bagged 5 for 5 and Osrick James took 3 for 9.
The win for Police revenged a defeat inflicted on them by Georgie Valley Stars in last yearâs ASCO competition, also at the Dauphine Playing Field.
In 2011, RSVG Police won an unprecedented four softball titles, TBPO, Bagga, Greiggs and ASCO.
So far in 2012, Police have gained the Calliaqua Area Development Committee Competition, but have relinquished their hold on the Bagga competition.
The TBPO competition started later, due to the late arrival of teams.
Only 11 of the registered outfits were present for the opening ceremony.
Chair of the competitionâs committee Ashford Wood, Product Development Officer of the National Lotteries Authority Anthony Dennie, and area representative Ces Mc Kie addressed the ceremony.
On Saturday, from 1 pm Gomea Bombers meet Sunset Strikers , to be followed by ASCO and Shot Callers from 3 pm.
On Sunday from 9 :30 am, Clinchers clash with Bangers. Simple Boyz and Glen United from 12: 30 pm and Valley Boys and Bank of SVG All Stars engage each other from 3pm.(RT)
