More mixed results for Vincy teams in BCL

It was another weekend of mixed results for the Vincentian outfits in the Brooklyn Cricket League (BCL), as Middlesex, Cavaliers and Imperial won one match and lost one, while Queensbury lost both.{{more}}

Last Saturday at Marine Park A, in the ultimate Vincy clash, Middlesex got the upper hand of Imperial.

Middlesex, opting to bat, posted 228 for 5 from 33 overs. Mark Audain hit 51, which included 7 fours and a six and Andre Kirton hit 40. Bowling for Imperial, Shadi Khan had 3 for 44.

Imperial was then skittled out for 68. Mark Audain topped the bowling with 4 for 13 and Andre Kirton had 3 for 6, to lead Middlesex to a whopping 160-run win.

But on Sunday at Sea View, Middlesex was brought back down to earth by Panthers.

Taking first strike, Panthers notched up 233 for 9 in 33 overs. Shazhad Asim slammed 66, which included 7 sixes.

Bowling for Middlesex, Dominic Audain grabbed 4 for 25, Adam Sanford 2 for 39 and Hugo D’Ollivierre 2 for 42.

At their turn at the crease, Middlesex was bowled out for 203 in 27.3 overs. Hugo D’Ollivierre compiled 46 and Joseph Ledwridge 32. Bowling for Panthers, Nousherwan Adil took 4 for 16 and Mohammed Imran 3 for 29. Panthers won by 30 runs.

On the other hand, Sunday, Imperial made up with a win over Queensbury in another Vincy show down at Marine Park A.

Queensbury batted first and fared better, making 160 all out. Bowling for Imperial, Devane Warner had 3 for 17, Byron Mars 3 for 26 and Colville Browne 2 for 25.

Responding, Imperial made 163 for 5. Bruno Henry, with 2 for 23, was Queensbury’s most successful bowler, as his team recorded another loss.

On Saturday at Marine Park B, Queensbury took on Wanderers a Belizean outfit, but fell for 24, one of the lowest scores to be recorded in BCL history.

George Sutherland was the pick of the bowlers, with a career best of 5 for 12 and Leon Hyde had 2 for 8.

Wanderers made the 25 needed, losing one wicket in the process.

Also on Saturday at Marine Park C, Cavaliers took on the unbeaten Panthers, who stretched their run of victories.

Panthers batted first and racked up 227 for 7, with Salman Ahmed hitting 63.

Bowling for Cavaliers, Cameron Cuffy took 2 for 25 and Damien Reid 2 for 58.

Cavaliers, in reply, were dismissed for 185. Albert Tesheira struck 61, as Panthers won by 43 runs.

But on Sunday, Cavaliers redeemed themselves as they defeated Wanderers.

Batting first, Cavaliers scored 140, then dismissed Wanderers for 101.

This weekend will feature two more Vincy clashes, when Middlesex and Cavaliers meet for the first time this season. The much anticipated encounter is set for Saturday at Marine Park C.

On Sunday, Middlesex and Imperial take on each other again at the same venue.

Also on Saturday, Queensbury and Panthers meet at Marine Park A and Imperial and Diplomats face off at Marine Park B.

On Sunday at Marine Park A, Cavaliers play Diplomats, while at Marine Park B Queensbury meet Travel Treat. (RT).
