Mustique Company speeds to Inter Financial Sports title
The Mustique Company totalled 259.5 points to retain the championship in the Inter Financial Sports Meet, which was held last Saturday at the Arnos Vale One Playing Field.{{more}}
Fielding the largest contingent of participants, Mustique Company participated in most of the events, and outpointed their nearest rival, second placed RBTT Bank, which put together 210. 5 points.
Third place went to Bank of Nova Scotia with 184 points, with Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines fourth on 140 points and CIBC First Caribbean International Bank taking the fifth spot with 115 points.
The top male athlete was the Mustique Companyâs Kimroy Yorke, who compiled 38 points, just edging out RBTT Bankâs Jeremy Charles, whose tally was 36.5.
Bank of Nova Scotiaâs Eugena Thomas was the top female athlete on the day, as she returned 30 points, one more than the Chrystal Olliver of CIBC First Caribbean International Bank, who scored 29.
RBTT Bank took the March Past trophy, followed by Mustique Company in second place.
The workers of the five institutions competed in several events on the afternoon, which was shortened by the late start, a heavy shower and fading light.
Among the events contested were the Walking Races, Sack Race, Lime and Spoon, Piggyback Race, Needle and Thread, the Banana Race, the Three-Legged Race, Beer Drinking Competition, the 600 m race and the Tug-Oâ-War.
There were also the 50 m and the 100 m Sprints for the various departmental personnel: loans officers, tellers etc, as well as for the workersâ off-spring of all age groups.
This year saw a dip in participation, as the St Vincent and the Grenadines Insurances, the National Insurance Service and Penny Bank Savers, which competed in the 2011 edition, were absent this time around.
