Guinness to take 1 team to Guyana for Street Football finals

This Saturday, June 9th, eight football teams from across the island will gather at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex to compete for the chance to represent St Vincent and the Grenadines at the regional finals of the Guinness Street Football competition in Guyana on June 23.{{more}}

For the past six weeks, Guinness travelled throughout the various communities to discover greatness among footballers.

Over 50 teams participated weekly in the island-wide challenge and now 8 will contest in the national finals at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex this Sunday. The participating teams are: ‘Full Force’, ‘Crew’, ‘In and Out’, Guinness Boyz’, ‘Double Trouble’, ‘Sea Side’, ‘Mad Rockaz’, and ‘Sharpes F.C.

Brand Manager for Guinness (St Vincent) Kasai Simmons expressed his appreciation to all the teams which participated and is also encouraging the many supporters to come on Sunday to witness the highly anticipated finals.

The winning team will receive $2,000, 5 cases of Guinness and will represent St Vincent in Guyana from June 20 to 24. The winning country in the Guyana matches will have a multipurpose, Street Football pitch built for their community, courtesy of Guinness.

Guinness Street Football matches were held in the communities of Calliaqua, Georgetown, Layou, Bequia, Greiggs, Kingstown, Campden Park and Rose Bank.

Over $10,000 in prizes will be given away on Sunday and Guinness will be sold on special all evening. Sound reinforcement would be by Crystal Audio, featuring Sargeant Simmons and D.J. Cain.
