Victors One loses on first innings to Spartans

Defending National Lotteries Authority Premier Division Cricket champions, Victors One, is making heavy weather in their 2012 campaign.{{more}}

After losing to ASCO on first innings in their opening fixture, Victors One went under to the News Spartans also on first innings last weekend at the Stubbs Playing Field.

Batting first, Victors One could only make 103. Atticus Browne hit 28 and Donwell Hector 20.

Basil Andrews picked up 4 for 18 and Kentish Bascombe had 4 for 21, to be Spartans’ lead bowlers.

In reply, Spartans posted 124. Remando Coombs topscored with 60; Keiron Cottoy snared 5 for 26 and Donwell Hector 4 for 29.

Victors One in their second innings compiled 208 for 8 declared. Ray Jordan struck 44, Atticus Browne hit 39 and Miles Bascombe contributed 32. Teron Simon grabbed 3 for 65.

Set 185 for victory, Spartans was 101 for, 4 when rain stopped play. Gidron Pope scored 66 as Ray Jordan had captured 3 for 20.

At the Arnos Vale Two Playing Field, in the other Premier Division match contested, Police Two won on first innings from Police One.

Police Two made 222, batting first. Danny Allen made 33, Gerald Gould 29 and Elron Lewis 26.

Bowling for Police One, Malcolm Alexander had 2 for 25, Parnel Browne 2 for 43 and Sylvan Spencer, 2 for 46.

Police One replied with 133. Peter Morris scored 36 and Anthony Sutherland 31. Mohammed Lavia captured 4 for 26 and Kenroy Martin 3 for 28.

Police Two in their second innings reached 133 for 2 declared. Salvan Browne struck 84 and Elron Lewis made 30 not out.

Set to make 222 for victory, Police One was 28 without loss in their second innings, when rain stopped play.

FIRST DIVISION

In the First Division at Buccament, Belmont United won on first innings from Bryden’s Frutee Youth United.

Belmont batting first scored 143, with Javed Cordice making 30 and Troy Harry 26. Bowling for Youth United, Joel O’Garro grabbed 3 for 38 and Daryl Lyttle had 3 for 40.

Youth United responded with 114. Keroy Roberts was the topscorer with 23. Javed Cordice snared 4 for 16 and Mc Laren Delpesche had 3 for 14.

Belmont United in the second innings was 34 for 4, when rain stopped play. Joel O’Garro had taken all four wickets for 14 runs. (RT)
