Final four

The space at the top is getting smaller, as the SVG Masters Cricket Competition has reached its last four teams.{{more}}

Still in the hunt are North Leeward Combined, Log Enterprises Kingstown, CK Greaves Arnos Vale and RSVG Police, following last Sunday’s quarter final matches.

At the Grammar School Playing Field, North Leeward Combined got past Stubbs by 34 runs.

North Leeward batted first and made 155 for 2 off 20 overs. Walliston Stapleton struck 59 and Winston Skinner, 53 not out. In reply, Stubbs reached 121 for 8 from their 20 overs.

Christopher Campbell’s 31, and Dawnley Joseph’s 28 were not enough, as their team was sent packing out of the competition.

William Edwards, 3 for 27, and Walliston Stapleton, 2 for 28, were the main wicket takers for North Leeward.

Also at the same venue, Kingstown humbled Computec Belfongo by seven wickets.

Belfongo set for themselves 129 for 7, from their allotment of 20 overs. Cleus Robinson, 26, and Peter Campbell, 20, were their lead batsmen. Colin Shoy 4 for 19, Tyrone Walker, 3 for 22, and Joseph Medford, 2 for 20, shared the wickets for Kingstown, which responded with 132 for 3 in 15.5 overs.

Bradley Brooker topscored with 40, Lawrence Shoy hit 31 not out, and Joseph Carrington, 30.

At Arnos Vale Two, Arnos Vale beat Rudy’s Electrical Barrouallie by eight wickets.

Barrouallie compiled 123 all out in 19.3 overs. Garfield Charles led the way with 36 and Lance John scored 32. Mc Neil Morgan took 3 for 8, Linton Greaves, 3 for 27, and James George, 2 for 40, bowling for Arnos Vale.

Mc Neil Morgan, the competition’s leading run scorer, then made 42 not out, Ted Roberts 35 not out and Monty Warner, 34, to carry Arnos Vale to 124 for 2 in 19.1 overs.

Meanwhile, Defending champions, RSVG Police defeated St. Vincent Cooperative Bank P’tani by ten wickets.

P’tani got up to 127 for 8 off 20 overs. Ray Laborde hit 22. Bowling for Police, Sigmond Allen and Calvin Glasgow took two wickets each.

Gosnel Cupid, 62 not out, and Trevor Bailey, 52, then saw Police to 128 without loss, and a shot for a repeat of the title which they won earlier this year.

When the semi finals bowl off in the new year, Arnos Vale will face RSVG Police and North Leeward will engage Kingstown.(RT)
