Browne hit with $16,000 fine
Vincy Heat utility player Devon Browne has been hit with a heavy fine of 5,000 Swiss francs (US$5,500), after he was deemed to have violated article 48, paragraph 1b of the FIFA Disciplinary Code,{{more}} which relates to misconduct against opponents or persons other than match officials.
Additionally, Browne is required to pay a further 1,000 Swiss francs (US$1,100), as costs of the proceedings against him.
In effect, the fine, which amounts to just over EC$16,000, will have to be borne by the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF).
Browne was sent off for committing a serious foul in the 88th minute by Honduran referee Erick Andino on Friday, September 2, as St. Vincent and the Grenadines went under to the hosts Guatemala 4-0, at the Mateo Flores Stadium in Guatemala City.
The decision to fine the player was handed down on September 13, by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, which comprises Marcel Mattier, Hamid Haddad and Pjil Pritchard.
Browne missed his teamâs second match against Grenada here on September 18, with St. Vincent and the Grenadines winning 2-1, as he served out his automatic one-match suspension.
The SVGFF received notification of Browneâs suspension on September 26, and has 30 days in which to pay the fine.
The SVGFF is expected to pursue all avenues in order to appeal the fine.(RT)
