The gurus of the league, for many years now, added their umpteenth top place with a five-nil triumph over the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Coastguard in the 2010 W & J Construction-sponsored competition.

Run over from last year, owing to the field being used regularly by the two main political parties here, for rallies prior to the December 13 General Elections, as well as the Christmas festivities, the long-awaited final drew a small gathering of spectators.

After some stubborn resistance from the able seamen of the Coastguard, the more experienced Prospect came into its own during the second period of play.

A brace from the versatile Lezlo Mc Kenzie, and one each from Floyd Bailey, Josh De Grads and Reginald Payne, blunted the Coastguard’s manoeuvres.

Despite being happy for his team’s triumph, Manager of the Prospect outfit reminded his players that finishing at the top of the Premier Division of the National Lotteries Authority National Club Championships should be their big catch.

Currently, Prospect is one of the teams in pole position of this country’s premier football competition.

Prospect and the other teams which won prizes in the W & J Construction Calliaqua League will be presented with their earnings at a date to be announced by organizers, the Calliaqua Area Development Committee(CADO).

Karibbean Tires Max Strikers took the third spot, last Friday, over 1998 Hill Side Rollers, who could not field a team for the fixture. (RT)
