Simple Boys rev up

Defending champions of the male division of the Ashburton Sports and Cultural Organisation (ASCO) 20/20 Softball Cricket Competition, Simple Boys made a winning start last Sunday.{{more}}

Stallions batted first and made 63 in 15 overs. Extras contributed 28.

Casmond Walters was the main wicket taker with 3 for 18, while Stein Joseph and Travis Cumberbatch chipped in with two wickets each. In reply, Simple Boys reached 63 for 4 in 10.2 overs. Elric Morris got 19.

Like Simple Boys, seven time female champions United Survivors overcame RSVG Police by eight wickets.

RSVG Police was shot out for 20 in 6.4 overs. Jennetta Diamond and Latoya Providence grabbed two wickets each. United Survivors replied with 21 for 2 in 3 overs.

But the law enforcers’ male counterparts made amends as they whipped Shot Callers by 37 runs. The lawmen batted first and posted 137 for 3 from the allotted 20 overs. Elmore Alexander blasted 60 and Trevor Bailey, 52.

Shot Callers replied with 100 all out in 18.1 overs. Darren Henry made 37 not out and Bernard Bushay, 19. Kenroy Martin, Malcolm Alexander and Holford Browne all bagged two wickets each.

Also recording a win in the male division was Next Level over Mc Sprat I Strikers.

Next Level compiled 124 in 17 overs, with Anthani Charles stroking 27, and Marvin Harry, 24.

Ashdale Huggins, Jason Enville and Donald Cumberbatch equally shared six wickets among them.

Mc Spat I Strikers responded with 73 in 16.2 overs. Deptor Culzac grabbed 4 for 7 and Enoch James 2 for 13, to win by 51 runs.

In the other female division match played, ASCO Dynamics secured a three wicket win over Ju-c Super Strikers.

Super Strikers rallied 83 all out in 20 overs. There was 39 extras, Carmel Davis got 21 not out. Lisa Hutchinson, Claudette Questelles and Rosemary Enville all picked up two wickets apiece.

In response, ASCO Dynamics reached 85 for 7 in 14.3 overs. Claudette Questelles stroked 24. Francelia Mascoll captured 3 for 26, and Sherma Hunte, 2 for 16.
