Jack – ‘SVGCA needs Constitutional Review’

Senior St. Vincent and the Grenadines Women’s Cricket team coach Ortis Jack has called on the current Executive of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association to pay attention to its present Constitution.{{more}}

Jack made this known last Saturday at the President’s Suite at the Arnos Vale Playing Field as the association held its Annual General Meeting.

One of the areas of Jack’s concern was the manner in which the elections are held.

He took issue with the fact that provisions are not being made for nominations to be done prior to the elections.

At last Saturday’s meeting, as it has been done in the past, nominations for the various positions which were to be contested came from the floor.

Jack, who unsuccessfully contested the posts of First Vice President and Assistant Secretary, thought it was time that such a system be done away with.

Jack, in his quest to serve on the Executive, was defeated 25-36 by Elson Crick in the race for the First Vice President spot, and 28-34, by Thaddeus Seymour as they vied for the Assistant Secretary.

Jack successfully coached the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Under-19 male team to the Windwards title in the past, guided the women’s outfit to second place in the regional limited overs competition held here last year, and managed the victorious St. Vincent and the Grenadines Secondary Schools team to the 2010 Windward Islands School Games in St. Lucia.

He used Saturday’s forum to congratulate the new Executive of the SVGCA and wished the members well.
