MVC Rivals marches on

MVC Rivals, defending champions of the National Lotteries Authority Neil Williams 20/20 Cricket Competition, continued last weekend in their winning vein when they beat Moses Douglas Radcliffe Two by 108 runs.{{more}}

Rivals posted 162 for 7 from their 20 overs, with Nicholas Baptiste making 49, Marvin Small, 22, and Casmond Walters, 20. Kareem Peters took 3 for 33, bowling for Radcliffe Two, who at their turn to bat was restricted to 54 for 7 from their allotment. They were undone by the bowling of Casmond Walters, 3 for 8 and Orlanzo Jackson, 2 for 6.

Also gaining a win was Rivals Two, who had the upper hand of North Leeward. Batting first, Rivals Two scored 136. Brentley Edwards scored 35, Davian Barnum, 29. Vanjel Small, 3 for 15, Vianson Stapleton, 2 for 10, and Eston Robertson, 2 for 17, shared the bowling honours for North Leeward.

Mayor Edwards struck 38, Doyle Mc Allister, 33, but that was not enough, as North Leeward got to 117, losing by 19 runs. Colin Shoy and Kadier Nedd took 4 for 9 and 3 for 19, respectively.

North Leeward was to also suffer at the hands of Ruddy’s Electrical Unique Warriors by six wickets.

North Leeward’s innings stopped at 98, as Samuel Byam bagged 3 for 25, Adolphus Campbell, 2 for 10, and Augustine Bentick, 2 for 15, bowling for Unique Warriors.

Courtney Mc Dowald, 53 not out, and Leon Samuel, 21, led Unique Warriors’ reply of 102 for 4. Jamal Nash got 2 for 8, bowling for North Leeward.

But Unique Warriors went under to Owia Stars. Shem Browne, 43, Desron Maloney, 34, Dean Browne, 32, pushed Owia to 167 for 7. Andre Hunte, 3 for 25, and Augustine Bentick, 2 for 38, bowling for Unique Warriors, who fell short by 16 runs.

Christopher Campbell hit a topscore of 52, in Unique Warriors reply of 151 for 6. Razine Browne, 3 for 13, and Desron Lavia, 2 for 34, bowling for Owia Stars.

Owia Stars made it two in a row against Rivals Two.

Owia got to 104 for 6 from 15 overs, reduced because of rain. Salvan Browne, 30, and Desron Lavia, 27, were the main contributors. Bowling for Rivals Two ,Colin Shoy had figures of 2 for 32. Rivals Two’s innings was stalled at 92 for 5 off their 15. Davian Barnum struck 23, and Asif Hooper, 21.

Dean Browne was Owia’s most successful bowler taking 2 for 13.

And, Combined Youth humbled Victors Two by seven wickets. Victors Two scored 97 for 7, with Jenry Ollivierre making 26. Romario Bibby snared 3 for 12 and Marlon Farrell, 2 for 23.

Combined Youths rushed to 103 for 3, led by Oneil Endeavour’s 42, Ozico Williams, 20 not out. Javon Samuel, bowling for Victors Two took 2 for 21. (RT)
