Street Fighters score big

Street Fighters chalked up back to back wins last weekend in the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organisation Softball Cricket competition.{{more}}

Feeling the wrath of Street Fighters were Touch of Pearl La Croix and Nex Level.

Against La Croix, Street Fighters reached 115 for 7 off 20 overs, batting first. The combined batting efforts of Delroy Johnson, 22, Osni Billingy and Desbert Williams, who both made 21, realized their team’s total.

Bowling for Street Fighters, Floyd Hull had 3 for 15, and Ronaldo Coombs, 2 for 30.

La Croix was routed for 37, as Leroy Dalzine, 3 for 6, Westwick Straugh, 2 for 15, and James De Freitas, 2 for 7, conjured up to help them win by 78 runs.

Then it was Nex Level’s turn to receive their flogging. James De Freitas bagged 5 for 5, and Richie Richards, 2 for 7, as Nex Level could only post 50.

Street Fighters replied with 52 for 2. Leroy Dalzine scored 25 not out, and Richie Richards, 19, to record an easy eight wicket victory.

Another of the heavy weights in the competition, defending champion CGM Novice defeated ASCO by 75 runs.

Novice compiled 147 for 5 from their maximum 20 overs. Felix Greaves hit a topscore of 46 not out.

Trevor Bailey added 19. Andrew Hackshaw had 2 for 22 and Akeem Cumberbatch, 2 for 23, bowling for ASCO.

ASCO fell for 72. Shane Trimmingham topscored with 27, as Rohan Williams snapped up 3 for 29, Trevor Martin, 2 for 4, Andre Hunte, 2 for 8, and Trevor Bute, 2 for 14.

And Pine Hill Dairy Clinchers beat Street Vibes by 41 runs. Clinchers took first knock and got to 113. Carlton John, 28, and Okeiph Andrews, 20, were the principal scorers. Roderick Sayers took 2 for 28, bowling for Street Vibes, who in response was all out for 72. Carlton John took 3 for 13.

Five matches are carded for this weekend at the competition’s venue, the Dauphine Playing Field.

Tomorrow, from 1:00 pm, BEDCO takes on Gomea Bombers, to be followed by Ken’s Plumbing and Associates Simple Boys versus Owia Shottaz.

From 9:30 Sunday morning, East Bank faces Under Dogs. Sunset Strikers engages Ruddy’s Electrical from 12:30 pm, and the feature match pits Young Strikers against Nar Fren Dem. (RT)
