North Leeward T/20 reaches Quarter final stage

This weekend will see three of the quarter finals of the Vinlec North Leeward 20/20 Cricket Competition being staged at the Petit Bordel Playing Field.{{more}}

On Saturday, from 1:30 pm, Somerset meets Peto Crusaders. On Sunday, from 10 am, Ruddy’s Electrical faces Future Legends, and from 1:30 pm, Ajuba takes on Petit Bordel Secondary School.

The other quarter final is set for the following Saturday, September 11, from 1:30 pm, when Troumaca engages Sharps United.

In the lone match last weekend, Peto Crusaders defeated the highly fancied Future Legends to create an upset.

Peto Crusaders scored 174 for 6 off 15 overs.

Allison Samuel topped the batting with 73, and Ronique Laborde made 29. Vianson Stapleton took 2 for 24.

Future Legends were then dismissed for 147 for 6 off15 overs

Winston Samuel struck 52 not out. Ronique Laborde, 2 for 19, and Allison Samuel, 2 for 36, undermined the favourites batting line up.

In friendly encounters on Sunday, Bequia X1 defeated a North Leeward X1 by 119 runs, while North Leeward Under 19 defeated Bequia Under 19 by 89 runs.

Among the seniors, Bequia scored 211 all out off their 20 allotted overs.Neil Baptiste led the way with 48, Shem Browne hit 43, Cosmos Hackshaw, 38, and Braxie Browne, 30.

Winston Samuel took 3 for 28 and Kesrick Williams, 3 for 31.

North Leeward in reply reached 92 off 11.3 overs

Kesrick Williams, 26 not out, and Otis Matthews, 26, were the only batsmen to reach double figures. Razine Browne bagged 4 for 27, and Braxie Browne, 4 for 31

In the Under-19 fixture, North Leeward scored 148 for 7 off 15 overs.

Otis Matthews, 34, Vidal Edwards, 31, and Kenneth Dember, 19.

Aaron Friday had 2 for 24 and Xavier John, 2 for 43.

Bequia was shot out for 59, as Vidal Browne snared 4 for 20, Kenneth Dember, 2 for 1, Vangel Small, 2 for 12, and Kimali Williams, 2 for 17.

North Leeward will make the reciprocal visit soon, which has become an annual exchange. (RT)
