Cool Riderz building regional integration through sports

Describing the St Vincent and the Grenadines 4th Annual Cool Riderz PPG Motocross as “a national programme with regional countenance”, President of the sporting club, Jacqueline King, said that the success of the event is as a result of teamwork and commitment.{{more}}

Speaking to a huge spectatorship at the opening of the Motocross Championship on Sunday, October 25, at Pembroke, King emphasized that the bonds formed were lasting and the unity of purpose was limitless.

King explained: “As regionalists, there are no boundaries to friendship and camaraderie, and there is no passport requirement for the commitment to the sport and no memorandum of understanding required for dedication.”

The Cool Riderz Motorcycle Club President described the various government Ministries support as “unwavering” and thanked them for their assistance. King, however, stressed that it was time that Vincentians asked themselves what they could do for their country, instead of what their country could do for them. She re-enforced: “Our civil conscience will not allow us to be complacent and dependent on governments to build a nation without input, but rather to develop and execute plans that are congruent with national policies.”

King also noted that the Cool Riderz Motorcycle Club has embarked on a training programme to nurture the skills of the youth and envisions that activities such as “Biking for National Development” will become a family event attracting all to Pembroke on Sunday afternoons.

Minister of Culture and Urban Development René Baptiste, who officially declared the event open, bragged that she was a member of Cool Riderz and praised the club for continuously supporting children with school supplies and traffic safety instructions. Baptiste said such generosity has not gone unnoticed by government and she wished the organization continued success.

The Cool Riderz Motorcycle Club activity to commemorate independence began on Sunday, October 18, with a worship service and was followed up with activities such as the Trail Ride, Endruo, and Super Motocross.

Riders for the event came from Guadeloupe, Grenada, Jamaica, Martinique, St Lucia, and host country St Vincent and the Grenadines.
