Rotary South holds Independence Softball Cricket Awards Ceremony

The administrative centre of the National Sports Council (NSC) at the Arnos Vale Playing Field was the venue last Monday afternoon for the Awards Ceremony of the Eleventh Annual Rotary South Independence Softball Competition.{{more}}

Leslie Jack of LIME took away the Most Runs Award, 40. He won a toaster and a package. Jack’s teammate Sherry Ann Abbott had the most wickets, 3 for 20, and secured a blender and a package.

Khalique Bailey, also of LIME, won the award for boosting spirit and shared the award with William “Bill” Edwards of the National Sports Council (NSC).

Former St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Windwards and Combined Island opener Lance John of winners NSC copped the award of Player of the Final. He knocked 16 not out and had bowling figures of 1 for 7, in the championship decider against LIME.

John was the recipient of a cell phone with $40 credit. He also captured the overall title of Most Valuable Player, having scored 38 runs and 3 for 28. John’s prize included a battery-operated tricycle.

The NSC, for once again winning the competition, pocketed $1,000, the Challenge Trophy and a replica, while runners up LIME stashed away $500 and a trophy.

The Central Water and Sewerage Authority (CWSA) received a plaque for being adjudged the Best Turned out Team at the Opening Ceremony.

The awards for the long serving full time outstanding officials went to Rudolph Bartholomew, Ron Hull, Tyrone Davis and Jeffrey Bradshaw.

Additionally, the MVP of each of the participating teams received $20 in cell phone credit compliments title sponsors Digicel.

Copping the MVP for FCIB was Ronald Veira, RBTT- Ava Da Silva, NCB – Asquith Mapp, NIS-Dezmin Pitt, NOC-Benson Hackshaw, NSC- Lauren Baptiste, Hairoun – Betty Mc Kenzie, Guinness – Jason Browne, LIME -Leslie Jack, SVG Port Authority – Linden James, Caribbean Glass – Daniel Shepherd, Bottlers – Kevorn Simmons, S G De Freitas – Dehron Maloney, Coreas Hazells Inc.- Calvert Knights, ECGC – Ruel Williams, Vinlec – Cecelia Williams, CWSA – Winston Bascombe, LOTTO -Osbourne Ottley, Rotary – Veronica-De Souza-Phillips and KFC – Joseann Ballantyne.

The competition, held at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex, saw twenty teams competing and began September 25 and concluded October 11.
