Daneya Charles and Halimah Michael won the Girls Under-14 Doubles, beating the Barbadian pair of Samiya Dottin and Melana Lopez 4-1, 4-2. Charles, ranked fifth in the COTEC standings, was the beaten finalist in the Girls Under-14, losing to Mexico’s Ana Paula Pintado 6-2, 6-2.

Julio Francis reached the quarter finals of the Under-14 Boys Singles and with Brandon Benn was stopped in the semi finals of that age group’s doubles play.

J’Rai Joyette-Da Silva and Marley Young got to the final of the Boys Under-14 Doubles, but were beaten. Joyette-Da Silva got to the semi finals of the Under-14 singles. Joyette-Da Siva was downed by eventual winner Justin Robinson of the Bahamas, 6-3, 6-2.

Jymann De Roche won the consolation of that age group over fellow Vincentian Imani King. Kentasha Bullock was runner in the girls category of the consolation. Paige Veira and Semesha St. Hillaire went as far as the semi finals in the consolation round of the Girls Under-14 Doubles.

The Under-18’s did not fare well. Rhianna Bruce Lyle got as far as the second round of the Singles, so too did Shane Huggins.

The girls Under-18 was taken by Sophie Morrill of England. Playing in the tournament’s final match last Saturday afternoon, Morill reversed the tie with a 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Ray Anne Sandy of Trinidad and Tobago. Sandy took the first set. The Boys segment was won by John Randolph Thorton of the USA.

In total, 121 junior tennis players from fifteen countries, including St. Vincent and the Grenadines participated in the Tournament. (RT)
