WI School Games to start next week

Overseas participants in the 2009 Windward Islands School Games to be hosted here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines are expected to arrive on Friday, July 24th.{{more}}

The Games, which will be hosted by the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Mobilisation, from Saturday, July 25, to Saturday, August 1, 2009, will take place at The New Montrose Netball Court (Netball), The Arnos Vale Playing Field (Football and Athletics), The New Montrose Basketball Facility (Basketball), The National Lotteries Sporting Facility at Richmond Hill (Volleyball).

The Opening Ceremony will take place at the Arnos Vale Playing Field on Saturday, July 25, beginning at 10:00 am.

The SVG Netball Association, the SVG Football Federation, the SVG Basketball Association, the SVG Volleyball Association and Team Athletics SVG are all collaborating with the Ministry of Education to provide the necessary technical support in order to facilitate the success of the Games, which are sponsored by Canadian Bank Note Co. (CBN) and WINLOTT Inc.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be represented by a 48-person team. The Planning Committee is headed by the Deputy Chief Education Officer, Luis de Shong.
