Lauders Primary Brownie Pack wins Brownies District Sports Day

Despite the somewhat inclement weather, Lauders Primary Brownie Pack emerged victorious from a Brownies District Sports Day held at the Antoine Park playing field on Saturday, June 20.{{more}}

Five Brownie Packs indulged in some healthy competition, taking part in activities such as 60m, 100m and 4 x 100m races, needle and thread, lime and spoon, beanbag, hoopla, sack race, three-legged race, obstacle race and tug of war.

Although no individual prizes were awarded, tokens were presented to the three Brownie Packs that scored the most points. First place was scooped by Lauders Primary Brownie pack; second place – Marriaqua Primary Brownie Pack, and third place went to Greiggs Primary Brownie Pack.

The two other competing Brownie Packs came from Belair Primary and Lowmans Windward.

The results for the events are as follows: 60m – Marriaqua 1st, Greiggs 2nd, Lauders 3rd; 100m – Marriaqua 1st, Lauders 2nd, Lowmans Windward 3rd; 4 x 100m – Marriaqua 1st, Lauders 2nd, Belair 3rd; needle and thread – Greiggs 1st, Belair 2nd, Lauders 3rd; lime and spoon – Lauders 1st, Greiggs 2nd, Belair 3rd; sack race – Belair 1st, Lowmans Windward 2nd, Lauders 3rd; three-legged race – Marriaqua 1st, Greiggs 2nd, Lauders 3rd; beanbag – Marriaqua 1st, Greiggs 2nd, Lauders 3rd; hoopla – Lowmans Windward 1st, Lauders 2nd, Greiggs 3rd; and the obstacle race – Lauders 1st, Marriaqua 2nd, Belair 3rd.

Lauders Primary Brownie Pack won the tug-of-war event.

Chief Commissioner Althea Commisiong expressed her pleasure with the displays of discipline and team spirit – especially that of the Marriaqua Primary Brownie Pack. Brownie Commissioner Jacqueline Soso-Vincent announced: “We hope to make this a yearly activity in all the districts. The next one will take place in the upcoming school term.”

Soso-Vincent also expressed gratitude to the staff members of the National Sports Council who assisted in setting up the event. Commisiong and Soso-Vincent donated prizes.(JSV)
