Plans in place for WI School Games

The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of National Mobilisation, are advancing plans to host the 2009 Windward Islands School Games from July 25, to August 1, 2009.{{more}}

Canadian Bank Note Co. Ltd and WINLOTT Inc, are providing sponsorship for the Games, which will be held at several venues throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Planning Committee is headed by Luis DeShong, Chair of the National School Games Committee, with Education Officer with responsibility for Physical Education & Sports in the Ministry of Education, Elford Charles, and Nelson Hillocks, the Director of Physical Education & Sports in the Ministry of National Mobilisation, performing duties as joint Deputy Chair. In addition, the following sub-committees have been developed and are fully operational: Finance, Camp Site, Security, Medical Services, Match Venues, Media/Protocol, Transportation, Team Preparation & Selection.

The Games will see participation by students from Dominica, St. Lucia, Grenada and host country St. Vincent and the Grenadines in Netball, Football, Basketball, Volleyball and Athletics.
