ASCO Softball Competition moves into semi finals

It took an 84-run seven-wicket partnership between Travis Cumberbatch and Kentish Phillips that guided 2 Simple Boys to an 87-run win over Progressive Youths, as they booked a place in the semi finals of the C O Williams ASCO Softball Cricket Competition last Saturday at the Dauphine Playing Field.{{more}}

Batting first, 2 Simple Boys rebounded from 43 for 6 to be dismissed for 133 in 15.4 overs.

Cumberbatch got 45 and Phillips, 26. Azmond Forbes captured 5 for 17, Akail Dabriel, 2 for 19 and Akeyso Davis, 2 for 46. Progressive Youths replied with 46 all out in 11.3 overs. Cumberbatch chipped in with 2 for 12 , Phillips, 2 for 8, and Akims Questelles, 2 for 18.

Former champion Simple Boys continued their unbeaten run with a commanding 97 run win over Kayous to also advance to the semi finals. Taking first knock, Simple Boys reached 135 for 5 in 20 overs. Captain Veron Bute led the batting with 46 and Vertille Davis made 22 not out. Kayous only mustered 38 in 11 overs. Oswald Soleyn was in ripping form, grabbing 6 for 12, while Vertille Davis got 2 for 10.

But it was ASCO Two that presented a surprise package to their senior counterparts ASCO One when they handed them a four wicket licking to send them packing. A shocking ASCO One batted first and struggled to 87 in 17 overs. Extras led the way with 34. Sedan Searles captured 2 for 13. ASCO Two replied with 88 for 6 in 13.3 overs. Nicos Davis was in an aggressive mood blasting 46 as his team advanced to the semi finals. Damian Chance took 2 for 13 and Marlon Williams, 2 for 4.

The other quarter match between Survivors and defending champion Shot Callers was rescheduled to tomorrow Saturday, 26th April, from 1:00 pm.

Also on Saturday. Clinchers will meet Ju-c Floranium Super Strikers in the third place play offs in the Female Division.

On Sunday the two male semi finals will be contested. From 1:00 pm, 2 Simple will face ASCO Two , while from 3:15 pm, Simple Boys will square off with the winner of the Survivors Shot Callers match.(RT)
