Grenadines Basketball championship bounces off

THE FIFTH annual Hairoun Duna Grenadines Basketball championship is scheduled to bounce off this evening Friday May 4th at the Ashton hard court in Union island.{{more}}

Six grenadines teams are registered to participate in this prestigious national competition, including Bequia, Mustique, Canouan, Mayreau, Union Island and Carriacou.

Hosted and organized by the Bequia Basketball Association, with sponsorship by Hairoun Duna, Adonal Foyle, Grenadines Airways, The Frangipani Hotel, The Mustique Company, and Tommy Hilfiger, and co-ordinated with the assistance of the southern grenadines association, the Canouan Basketball Association and the Mustique Sports Club, the tournament promises to be a high calibre competition, featuring the best talent in the grenadines. The Mustique icon are the 2006 defending champions.

The tournament runs from May 4th to 20th, opening in Union island, and closing in Bequia with games in Union, Bequia, Canouan and Mustique throughout.

Parliamentary representatives, Hon. Loraine Friday and Hon. Terrence Ollivierre, from the Northern and Southern Grenadines respectively, as well as Deputy Director of Grenadines Affairs Herman Belmar will be present at the opening and closing ceremonies.
