P’Tani Masters triumphs over Stubbs

PTANI MASTERS powered by an unbroken opening stand of 90 in 10.4 overs secured a ten wicket win over Stubbs Masters as the Masters Cricket Tournament which continued last weekend.

In the batting, Augustus Mofford 47 and Carlton Woodley 27 both unbeaten steered their team to victory.{{more}}

The game played at Brighton Playing Field saw Stubbs being restricted to 89 for 7 in 20 overs.

Transport and Works Minister Clayton Burgin, like his Cabinet colleague Montgomery Daniel in the previous week, was somewhat of a hero. He returned figures of 3 for 8 in 4 overs, and contributed to Stubbs meager total.

North Windward Combined, however, failed to show up for their encounter against Police Masters Police won by default.

C.K. Greaves Arnos Vale Masters scored 158 for 8 in 20 overs. Former Windwards all-rounder Monty Warner 45, supported by Alston Gibson 35 and Garth Williams 39 not out were the top batsmen for Arnos Vale. Basil Weeks 4 for 30 from 4 overs and Curtis King 2 for 15 from 4 overs were the chief wicket takers for Belfongo.

They were dismissed for 96 from 15.1 overs after being 49 without loss. Theo Huggins 40 was the mainstay of the Belfongo innings

Ted Roberts 4 for 27 from 4 overs and Eddy Hadaway 3 for 17 from 4 overs were the main bowlers for Arnos Vale.

The South Leeward versus P.H. Veira Kingstown Masters encounter, as well as the

Barrouallie Masters versus Mr. Cool Masters matches were called off owing pitch conditions.

Another five matches are slated for this weekend.

On Saturday C.K Greaves meets P’Tani Masters at Brighton and Barrouallie plays P.H.Veira Kingstown at Buccament. Both matches begin at 1:30 p.m.

At the London Playing Field Belfongo meets North Windward from 9:30 am, with Police versus Stubbs at Brighton from 1:30 p.m. and Ajuba Masters plays South Leeward at Buccament, also at 1:30 p.m.
