Canouan softball tourney opens

The 2006 Canouan Softball Competition got off to a splendid start on Sunday, February 12, 2006 at the Canouan Playing Field. Six teams were on parade with “Just for the Fun”, the lone female team in the competition, getting the judges’ nod for the best dressed team.

The Ball-O-Rama competition which was a six-over affair followed the opening ceremony. Prizes for the 2005 competition were also distributed. {{more}}

The teams in this year’s competition are Combined Stars (the defending champions), Just for Fun, Derrick’s Construction, Christ Warriors Combined, CCA Combined Stars, Canouan United Ball Shooters (CUBS), Hot Attack, The Fishermen’s Squad.

Matches will be played on Saturdays at 2:15 pm, Sundays at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm and on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (afternoon matches) from 4:15 pm. The competition will be played on a round robin basis (each team playing each other once). The four teams with the most points will qualify for the semi final and then the finals.

Trophies for the 2006 Canouan Softball Competition were sponsored by the Hon. Terrance Ollivierre, Jeffrey King (Capt. M.V Barracouda) and the Canouan Island Council.
