Diamonds Village, located in the South Central Windward constituency is enjoying its first staging of a full fledged Football Competition.{{more}}

The competition is being organised by the Diamonites Sports club.

From Tuesday to Sunday for the past two weeks, the Diamond Playing Field, which was opened last December, is the venue for the competition, which sees ten teams stashed in two groups vying for supremacy and their name in history.

In Group A are Jar Plum Highlanders, Brownstown Royal Saints, Owia Shottaz, Sea Operations Greiggs and Diamond Village Union Fuel Attackers.

And, although hampered by rain, some teams in this group have already begun to show their prowess over their opponents.

Brownstown Royal Saints had a 4-2 win over Diamond Fuel Attackers, with Sea Operations Greiggs also inflicting a one nil beating on Attackers. Jar Plum Highlanders stopped Diamond Village Union Fuel Attackers 2-0.Meanwhile, Highlanders and Royal Saints played to a 2-2 draw.

Competing in Group B are Linkers, Spring Village, Cane End, Carib Warriors and Vintage FC.

This group is the more competitive, with Cane End, the three consecutive winners of the Biabou Nine A side League and Carib Warriors, who won the National Lotteries Authority National Club Championships First Division and will be promoted to the Premier Division of the national set up.

Carib Warriors also is the reigning champions of the North East League. Vintage FC is the current Computec Arnos Vale Football League champions.

So far, Carib Warriors got past Linkers 2-1, but Cane End and Spring Village drew one goal apiece. Spring Village though, got the upper hand of Linkers, six goals to one.

The competition is expected to be completed next month.
