Dance Fest: Going for gold

Dance Fest: Going for gold

The KCCU sponsored Dance Festival got kicking last Saturday night to exciting response from a Vincentian public whose appreciation for dance has been growing in recent years. Persons witnessed the creativity of our young dancers whose choreography has been as exciting as it was innovative. {{more}}
What many of the performers lacked in formal technique was certainly matched by their attempts at innovation. It means that the future of dance here is quite a bright one.
We caught up with the children’s leg of the Dance Fest on Sunday afternoon and were lucky to be in the presence of what can surely be called the future of dance here with performances from the Layou Government School, Stubbs Government, the St.Mary’s R.C School and the Girls’ high School and the Georgetown Government School.
Most of the dances were suitably choreographed and in good taste except one piece where the shoolteachers allowed a bit of vulgarity that had many in the audience crying shame.
The contribution of the Stubbs Govenrment School in their first outing must be commended and who could stop the Snagg twins Lenelle and Rosnelle who earned silver. But by far the group of the evening was Ecole de Ballet (right) which performed a superbly choreographed “Let there be” which, combined with their grace earned them gold and the hearts of most of the audience.
