At 106 years old, Estelle Davis is still able to enjoy several aspects of life.

The Mount Bentinck, Georgetown native affectionately known as “Maryie,” enjoys singing hymns and savours the taste of VitaMalt.{{more}}

When SEARCHLIGHT visited Davis on the day before her milestone, the mother of five was surrounded by a few of her grand, great grand, and great, great grandchildren, at the home of her daughter, 70-year-old Vidors Davis.

Davis said that her usually quiet mother, despite her age, has remarkable eyesight and hearing.

“But I am sick with my hands. I can’t do nothing,” the centenarian interjected, as she explained that she has difficulty lifting objects, or holding them for too long, or doing household chores.

She may not remember much, but Davis recalls doing a long stint with the Georgetown Town Board, and working along with “Miss Lawrence” and “Coolie” back in the day.

Vidors also publicised an unknown fact about Estelle, revealing that since her husband passed away in 1975, she had never known her mother to have another boyfriend beside her (Vidors’) father.

Vidors also revealed that of her mother’s five children (three girls and two boys), three are still alive, and Estelle has one surviving brother in his nineties.

She also has 15 grandchildren, 35 great grands and 11 great great grands.

Estelle also told SEARCHLIGHT that she enjoys eating all sorts of foods and enjoys Vita Malt best of all drinks.(JJ)
