NTRC donates electronic devices to Sunshine School for Children with Special Need

THE NTRC HAS donated EC$6,572.00 in assistive technology and ICT equipment to the Sunshine School for Children with Special Needs, Bequia as part of its ongoing efforts to promote digital inclusion and accessibility for persons with disabilities. NTRC said in a release that the donations were made on September 15, 2026.

The Sunshine School for Children with Special Needs Bequia received one Lexmark printer/ scanner, two noise cancelling headphones and one projector.The equipment was handed over by the wife of the prime minister, Ave Friday, on behalf of the NTRC and received by the principal, Michelle Stowe.

“The donated equipment forms part of the NTRC’s Digital Resilience, Inclusion, Virtual Access and Empowerment (DRIVE) Project, which is funded through the Universal Service Fund (USF),” the regulatory body explained.

It said distribution of equipment under the DRIVE Project commenced on July 29, 2026, and to date, the Voice of the Disabled, the National Society of and for the Blind, The National Society of Persons with Disabilities SVG, and the School for Children with Special Needs in Georgetown and Kingstown have also received equipment under the Project.

“Through the DRIVE Project, the NTRC continues to support organizations, and serve persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups by providing access to technology that enhances learning, communication, independence, and participation in the digital environment.”
