Department of Diaspora Affairs launches official diaspora registration QR code

THE Department of Diaspora Affairs, formerly known as the Regional Integration and Diaspora Unit, or RIDU, used the opportunity during the CDC VincyMas “Road to 50” campaign launch press conference in New York in August to also launch a new digital initiative: the official diaspora registration QR code.

Newly installed Senior Advisor for Diaspora Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment, and Diaspora Affairs Sharon Jones, in her remarks at the launch, said the aim is to build stronger, lasting bridges between St.Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) and its citizens living abroad.

“Our mission is to ensure that every Vincentian overseas feels connected, engaged, and empowered to play an active role in our nation’s growth as we enhance our systems, upgrade our communications, and expand our team both at home and across our overseas offices to serve you better”, she said, as she further explained how they plan to turn this vision into action.

Jones explained that the QR code serves as a primary data collection tool, providing instant access to contact information, to SVG embassies and consulates worldwide, as well as helping to identify and connect with Vincentians living in the diaspora.

“This QR code serves as a resource hub for you, providing instant access to contact information, addresses and details for our main office, as well as all of our embassies and consulates worldwide,” she said.

“We are also expanding our work with the private sector to uplift Vincentian talent,” Jones added as she encouraged Vincentians to register and stay connected.
