South Leeward Power Hub generates positive feedback

On Friday, August 21, 2026, the Department of Youth, through Assistant Youth Officer Candy Fraser, in association with the Lions Club of Kingstown-SVG, hosted the first group-building and group-dynamics session for the South Leeward Power Hub at the Campden Park Community Centre.

The session was facilitated by Lions Club President Rohan Defriatas, along with Lions Rhandez Browne and Maria Burke, and was said to be highly engaging and interactive, with members participating in discussions focused on teamwork, leadership, discipline, service, service above self, giving back to the community, supporting persons who are less fortunate, becoming actively involved in the organisation, understanding that funds raised from the public should benefit the public, and the importance of working together as a group.

Fraser expressed that the feedback from the session was very positive.

“The first session demonstrated that young people respond positively when given space to participate, communicate, and contribute,” she said.

“ It also reinforced the importance of structured opportunities for youth to develop leadership, teamwork, discipline, and community-service skills,” she added.

“The session provides a strong foundation for the South Leeward Power Hub as it moves forward with additional training, activities, community initiatives, and partnerships”, Fraser stated.

She said the Lions Club representatives expressed appreciation for how engaged and interactive the South Leeward Power Hub members were and indicated that they were excited about continuing to engage with other youth groups within the Department of Youth.

The South Leeward Power Hub is a youth development initiative under the Department of Youth which was initiated by Assistant Youth Officer Fraser. It focuses on connecting young citizens, cultivating leadership potential, and fostering community volunteerism.
