CSEC 2025/26 results see slow but steady improvement in Mathematics

The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) officially released the preliminary May–June 2026 regional examination results on Tuesday, August 18, revealing a high 93.52 percent pass rate for advanced CAPE students alongside a lower 72.18 percent success rate for secondary-level Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations candidates.

The results which were released during its regional presentation in Anguilla on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 revealed that more than 144,000 students registered for the May–June 2026 regional examinations, 118,000 of whom sat CSEC across the region, achieving an overall regional pass rate of 72.18% (Grades I–III).

The most notable academic turnaround was in CSEC Mathematics, which climbed to a 42 percent pass rate, as against 39% the previous year, and 36% in 2024, marking slow but steady growth over the last three years, while an experimental modular Mathematics pilot programme achieved an impressive 88 percent success rate.

As for the CAPE Candidate pool, more than 26,000 students sat for the advanced-level diplomas, achieving an overall regional pass rate of 93.52% (Grades I–V).

Advanced-level CAPE candidates excelled with a high 93.52 percent regional pass rate, driven by top scores in Information Technology at 99 percent, and Caribbean Studies at 98 percent.

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Ministry of Education has not yet published its statistical report following the regional release in Anguilla.
