Vincy film to air in two regional film festivals

A short film, Cocoa Tea, a production of IKTV, has been officially selected for two regional film festivals: the Georgetown Film Festival in Guyana, and Films That Move in Jamaica.

“Produced under IKTV’s entertainment initiative, Cocoa Tea represents our commitment to developing Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ creative industry by partnering with local businesses to bring meaningful stories to life through film,” states a release from the local television station.

“This model not only creates high-quality productions but also provides employment opportunities for local actors, film makers, crew members, and other creative professionals while showcasing Vincentian talent on regional and international platforms,” it added.

The film Cocoa Tea, was produced in partnership with Vincentian Chocolate, written and directed by Javed DaSouza, with cinematography by Duane Lewis, and stars Hannah Archibald, Tiwanda Roberts, and Cherry Llewellyn.

“These festival selections are more than just accolades-they are proof that, with the right investment and support, Vincentian creatives are capable of producing world-class content that resonates beyond our shores. They demonstrate that our stories have value, our talent is exportable, and our creative industries have the potential to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s cultural and economic development,” the release points out.

It notes that this “is only the beginning” as the film has also been submitted to other film festivals.
