Glasgow represents SVG, Caribbean at World Business Angels Investors Week

Vincentian entrepreneur Kimya Glasgow, on Monday, June 22,2026 represented St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), and the wider Caribbean as a featured panellist during the opening ceremony of World Business Angels Investors Week 2026.

Hosted by the World Business Angels Investment Forum (WBAF), an affiliated partner of the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI), the event brought together entrepreneurial leaders from Europe, the Caribbean, Asia and Latin America to explore how global networks are helping entrepreneurs access markets, investment opportunities and international partnerships.

Glasgow participated in the international round table discussion, “Entrepreneurial Diplomacy in Action: How Global Networks Help Entrepreneurs Scale Beyond Borders”.

The panel featured WenCHAM Founding Presidents from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Malaysia, Bolivia and Singapore, demonstrating the growing reach of entrepreneurial diplomacy as a practical tool for building global partnerships led by entrepreneurs themselves, a release issued by Glasgow states.

Kimya Glasgow is the Founder and Creative Director of Kimya Glasgow Inc., a sustainable Caribbean lifestyle brand producing apparel, fragrance and home goods under the philosophy of “slow fashion”.

She is also a social entrepreneur and the Founding President of WenCHAM St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and a champion of entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainable business, advocating for greater global visibility, investment readiness, international collaboration, and expanded access to markets and opportunities for entrepreneurs from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the Caribbean, and other small island developing states.

The release states that her participation reinforced St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ growing presence within international entrepreneurship and investment networks while showcasing the Caribbean as a region rich in innovation, creativity and globally relevant entrepreneurial talent.

Glasgow highlighted the realities faced by entrepreneurs in small island developing states and the importance of entrepreneurial diplomacy in overcoming barriers created by geography and limited domestic markets. She suggested that stronger international relationships are essential to creating sustainable economic opportunities for Caribbean businesses.

“For entrepreneurs in small island states, thinking internationally is not a choice; it is a necessity.”

During the discussion, Glasgow emphasised that entrepreneurial diplomacy is creating new opportunities for Caribbean entrepreneurs by connecting them with global networks, investors, mentors and strategic partners.

Drawing on the Caribbean’s long tradition of regional cooperation, Glasgow pointed to foundational regional institutions such as CARICOM, the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), and the University of the West Indies as enduring examples of what the region has achieved through collective action.

She suggested that entrepreneurial diplomacy represents the next evolution of that collaborative spirit, extending it beyond governments and academia to entrepreneurs, investors and innovation ecosystems, and creating new pathways for trade, investment and business growth across borders.

Glasgow noted that while small island economies face unique challenges in accessing finance and international markets, they also possess distinct advantages.

“Small should never be confused with insignificant.”

According to Baybars Altuntas, Executive Chairman of the World Business Angels Investment Forum, the event attracted more than 120,000 live viewers at its peak during the opening ceremony, underscoring the global interest in entrepreneurship, innovation and international collaboration.
