Seventeen in Inter- Primary Schools Development Cricket Competition
Seventeen primary schools from across St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) will from Wednesday, May 27, participate in the 2026 edition of the Inter-Primary Schools Developmental Cricket Competition.
An undertaking by the Division of Sports and Physical Activities in collaboration with the SVG Cricket Association, it will be the first tour of duty for recently installed Coordinator of Sports and Physical Activities Roxell John.
According to a press release from the Sports Division the competition, “will feature modified cricket rules and is being used as a platform to infuse the fundamental cricketing skills at the grass root level”.
The preliminary matches will take place between May 27 and June 2,2026. The venues for the competition have been identified as the London Playing Field, Stubbs Playing Field, Belair Playing Field, and the Buccament Bay Playing Field.
The schools listed in Zone One are Owia Government, Sandy Bay Government, Tourama Government and South Rivers Methodist. Lodged in Zone Two are Pamelus Burke Government, Georgetown Government and Biabou Methodist; with Gomea Methodist, Sion Hill Government, Belmont Government, Dorsetshire Hill Government, and Belair Government stashed in Zone Three. In Zone Four are Fitz Hughes Government, Clare Valley Government, Fair Hall Primary, and Canouan Government.
Emerging from the preliminaries, the top two teams in each zone will advance to the knock-out stages.
Started in 2025, the primary school students will transition into competitions whereby the official rules that govern the sport are observed.
The 2026 Inter-Primary School Developmental Cricket Competition is the final event held under the auspices of the Division of Sports and Physical Activities for the 2025/2026 school year.
