Five Secondary Schools qualify for Science Quiz finals
ON MONDAY, May 11, 2026, the duo of Ezron Hazell and Jessica Ballantyne of the Sandy Bay Secondary School (SBSS) gained 54 points to win the Zone 5 preliminary round of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Teachers Co-Operative Credit Union Ltd., National Science Quiz, 2026.
FINALIST – St Joseph”s Convent, Kingstown
Now heading to the finals on May 27, the SBSS had to fend off the North Union Secondary, George Stephens Senior Secondary, and the Georgetown Secondary to earn the last spot from the preliminaries.
On Monday, April 27, 2026, the Union Island Secondary School (UISS) team of Faith Hutchinson and Treyvon Bowens amassed 48 points to become the first school to earn a spot in the final.
UISS eliminated the Bequia SDA Secondary, Charles Adams Anglican Community High School, and the Canouan Secondary School on their way to the finals.
FINALIST – Union Island Secondary School
Alyssa DeShong and Anna-Lisa Douglas of the St Joseph’s Convent, Kingstown (SJCK), in Zone 2, garnered 62 points and a spot in the final. Also represented in Zone 2 were the St Vincent Grammar School (SVGS), Girls’ High School (GHS), Thomas Saunders Secondary (TSSS), Bishop’s College Kingstown (BCK) and St Martin’s Secondary (SMSS).
Cornelius Jr Myers and Kyle Williams of the Barrouallie Secondary School (BSS), competing in Zone 3, earned 54 points, defeating the Buccament Bay Secondary School (BBSS), Bethel High School (BHS), Petit Bordel Secondary School (PBSS), and Troumaca Ontario Secondary School (TOSS) and in the process, earned a spot in the finals.
FINALIST- Mountain View Adventist Academy
After being locked in a tie on 57 points, at the end of the best of 5 tiebreaker, Gabriella Douglas and Taysia Nichols of the Mountain View Adventist Academy (MVAA),
in Zone 4, edged ahead of the St Clair Dacon Secondary 62–61 to secure their spot in the finals.
Also in the Zone 4 preliminary round of the National Science Quiz were the Emmanuel High School Mesopotamia (EHSM), St Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua (SJCM), and West St George Secondary (WSGS).

With the preliminaries out of the way, the finalists are now gearing up for the May 27, 2026 showdown in the finals.
