World Red Cross Day 2026
SAINT VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES, 4 th MAY 2026- The St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Red Cross society will join the International Red Cross Community to observe World Red Cross
Day on the Friday 8th of May 2026. The observance will be under the theme “Keeping Humanity
Alive”.
The celebrations this year began yesterday, Sunday 3rd May, with volunteers attending their local
churches. In addition, approximately 160 indigent persons in Kingstown were provided with hot
lunches. The school groups and youths will provide gift baskets to the elderly in their community
as part of the activities leading up to World Red Cross Day 2026.
Activities would continue throughout the month and would be decentralized in communities
across the country. This is especially important at a time when St. Vincent and the Grenadines is
experiencing a period of drought and with the hurricane season fast approaching. Moreover, this
year’s theme is in keeping with one of this year’s key priority themes for the SVG Red Cross
Society which focuses on the promotion of inclusion and social cohesion by addressing the needs
of the marginalised groups and fostering community.
On May 8th, the President Mr. Alston Anderson will make an address.
