The Creative Thinkers Toastmasters Club hosts ‘Speakathon’

The Creative Thinkers Toastmasters Club is hosting a ‘speakathon’ on Tuesday, June 7 and has extended an open invitation to the public.

In a release the club said the event, to be held virtually via the zoom platform will involve presentations from club members who will be evaluated by their peers.

“In other words, other fellow Toastmasters will be giving their constructive thoughts on the merits of the speeches,” the release states
International speech contest winning Toastmaster, Vincentian, Glenda Matthews will lead the event which is scheduled to run from 6:00 p.m to 8:30 pm.

“Toastmasters provides a supportive and positive environment where members have the opportunity to develop their communication, speaking and leadership skills,” says Michele Morthely, president of the Creative Thinkers Toastmasters Club.

After hearing the prepared speeches, members and guests will have some fun during the ‘table topics’ (impromptu speeches) session. This is where guests and members are randomly selected to speak for one to two minutes. It helps you think and speak clearly on your feet, the club points out.
