Sixteen new Covid-19 cases recorded in SVG
Sixteen new Covid-19 cases have been reported from a total of 262 samples processed between May 21 and 22.
A release from the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) said five of the positive cases were reported from 111 samples processed on Friday May 21, resulting in a positivity rate of 4.5 per cent. An additional 11 cases were reported from 151 cases processed on Saturday May 22, resulting in a positivity rate of 7.3 per cent.
The 16 new cases are not linked to emergency shelters.
“No new recoveries were noted over the reporting period. One hundred and fifty (150) cases are currently active and twelve (12) persons with COVID-19 have died. One thousand, nine hundred and eighty-nine (1989) cases of COVID-19 and eighteen hundred and twenty-seven (1827) recoveries have been recorded in St. Vincent and the Grenadines since March 2020,” the release said.
The public is urged to continue to use masks, sanitize, physically distance and get vaccinated to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
