Prepare for water disruptions – CWSA

THE CENTRAL Water and Sewerage Authority (CWSA) is alerting its customers to be prepared during this hurricane season for any un-planned water disruptions.

In a release, the CWSA said this has already been the most active hurricane season on record, and St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) has also had several storm and flood warnings.

“Over the past few weeks, the country has experienced intermittent heavy rainfall which has resulted in several broken pipelines due to fallen trees and land slippage, and this has resulted in emergency work being undertaken by the CWSA staff in several areas. It is important to note that sudden disruptions to the water supply in any area can occur as a result of adverse weather conditions,” the release said.

“The CWSA continues to be actively involved in the monitoring of climate, weather and river flow data through our Water Resources Unit and will endeavor to provide information in a timely manner to its customers.

“With October statistically being the wettest month of the year, the general public is then urged to follow the CWSA’s Facebook page and follow media outlets both online and via radio stations for any developments,” the release ended.
