AIA halt operations due to tropical storm
Press Release
July 24, 2020

AIA halt operations due to tropical storm

The Argyle International Airport (AIA) will cease all operations from 6am tomorrow, July 25 due to the passing of Tropical Storm Gonzalo.

A release from the AIA Inc. said that scheduled flights will be interrupted until further notice is given by the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO).

“A further update will be released, regarding the reopening of the airport. We take this opportunity to encourage everyone to please remain safe during this time,” it said.

AIA’s release also gave several safety tips that the public should follow in preparation for the passing of the storm.

These include keeping a battery powered radio at home in case of loss of electricity, keeping a flashlight easily accessible on every floor of the home and keeping candles on hand in case of power failures.

The release also advises persons to nail down roof shingles or use adhesive to keep them from blowing off in a violent wind, not to go out during a hurricane unless necessary and to seek higher ground in the event of floods.

Persons should also keep an eye on large trees that could damage a house if felled in a storm, close shutters, board windows or tape the inside of larger panes with an “X” along the full length of their diagonals when a major storm is imminent.
