Venezuelan Institute begins online Spanish Classes

The Spanish and Venezuelan culture classes held here in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) by the Venezuelan Institute for Culture and Cooperation Hugo Chavez Frias (VICC) transferred to an online format on Monday, April 27, 2020.

The VICC is attached to the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in SVG and the online classes correspond to the academic and cultural activities of VICC for the April to July 2020 term.

“The teachers prepared various instructional materials and started using them with the activation of various e-learning platforms that allow the development of distance classes with a variety of didactic methodologies for the teaching and learning of the Spanish language, as part of the social distancing that has had to be taken in many countries as a preventive measure to avoid the spread of Covid-19,” a release from the VICC said.

In a video conference with teachers and students, Francisco Perez Santana, head of the Venezuelan mission in SVG said that this initiative is being carried out in order to continue strengthening the ties of friendship between SVG and Venezuela, in spite of the continuous unilateral coercive measures imposed by the US government on the Venezuelan people.

“Once again, the Bolivarian Revolution, through its Embassy in SVG and praxis of the diplomacy of Peace, assumes the challenge of bringing classes to Vincentian students free of cost, in the midst of the fight against Covid-1. With this experience we follow the Bolivarian ideology, the legacy of our Commander Hugo Chavez and President Nicolas Maduro Moros in the conception that for us the Homeland is America; at this difficult time with the Covid-19, this is our educational contribution to our brother people of SVG.”

For her part, the academic coordinator of the Institute, Andreina Bermudez Di Lorenzo thanked the VICC professors for their efforts: Diana Cyrus, Nauris Sam, Lotier Rose and Violeta Gutierrez for implementing the idea.

“We are very grateful for the great work they have done. This has been done for several weeks, which has implied the dedication of an important time in the preparation of classes, study materials, evaluations and works that guarantee the continuation of the Spanish courses at the VICC.”

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela continues to work on the training and education of brother peoples within the framework of the principles of solidarity, brotherhood and international cooperation.
