Beyond Artificial Intelligence
DAILY, WE SEE AI galloping away- in the law, in commerce, in governance, across the board. One wonders if the human has been eliminated!
Artificial intelligence has even started performing intellectual tasks that we humans once regarded as uniquely ours forever.
However, we human beings must remember that we are still required to display- a willingness to do taxing mental work; passion; purpose; motivation; desire; character; integrity; the building of relationships of highest quality; moral judgment; curiosity; meaning.
Schools and universities should start asking students to reflect on questions such as: What is my purpose?
What makes a good life?
What do I owe other people?
What makes a good friendship?
What do I owe my family?
What do I owe my country?
What kind of person should I become?
That is radically different from what presently obtains in most education systems, since they are concerned almost exclusively with employability.
We also need to recover the humanities, if only because technological civilization is becoming extremely powerful.
