Time to put aside the political divisions
EDITOR: The bible tells us in Proverbs 14:34, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people”.
“Have we as a people sold ourselves to satan and the powers of darkness?”
This question arises from the many incidents of various nature occurring amongst us.
Elections are over, with the vast majority of Vincentians voting for this present government, yet there is so much anger, revenge, hatred, malice and division because of politics. Have we sold ourselves to satan?
When we paid homage to our ancestors at Balliceaux.
Is not that a form of idolatry and to some extent?
We had at the swearing in of the cabinet of this present government, many who did not recognize God.
As was customary, at the swearing in the person would say, “ so help me God” while holding the bible, but many of the Ministers and Senators did not say that. Is it that they are not depending on God to help them? Is it that they don’t recognize God? Do they really have the fear of God in their lives?
These and many more raised the question as to whether we have sold ourselves to satan and the works of darkness. For, if God is not in our lives, then righteousness cannot be practised and so this nation cannot be exalted, but rather it will continue to go down, since as according to the verse, sin is a reproach to any people. Therefore, we may be under a reproach.
The behaviour of so many persons makes us wonder if there is any fear of God in our lives. So, if there is no fear of God in our lives, then it is the devil who is ruling our lives. It was indeed a strange and a sad day at the swearing in ceremony to omit God, maybe we are now repeating the consequences. Maybe, indeed we have sold ourselves to satan and the forces of darkness.
Let us as a people, get back to God. Let righteousness reign, so that we can as a nation be exalted and so would move on. Failure to do so, we would go down, since sin is a reproach to any people. Let us put aside the hatred, malice, revenge, division and the list can go on, because of politics and let us love each other and respect a person’s opinion and choice politically. After all, each us of is different and would see things differently and for that matter may make a choice politically for different reasons.
Let us not have enemies because of politics, it is dividing us further and that in itself is a spirit of darkness and doing so, we are giving ourselves deeper to satan.
May God bless this nation.
