Congratulations to the New Kingstown Chorale
EDITOR: Congratulations to The New Kingstown Chorale in celebrating 70 years of existence. The late Patrick “Pat” Prescod had mentioned to me that he had put music to a work written by Vincentian poet Timothy “Tim” Daisy.
He even hummed some of it to me when I visited him on 4/24/13.
I would like to share that information with others. Tim’ Daisy’s beautiful poem” Hairoun my Home” was put to music by Pat Prescod and arranged for the Chorale.
It has been performed several times in SVG and abroad. A masterpiece !!
Keep up the good work, Mrs. Jeanne Horne and the New Kingstown Chorale, and thanks for all that you do for the enhancement of the nation, culture and humanity. Much appreciated.
Cheryl Phills King.
Hairoun My Home by Tim Daisy
Home, where the mountains reach for the clouds,
Clothed in an infinite variety of green, And the crystal Caribbean laps at her black shores Like shy lovers, kissing for a fleeting moment, Then running back to mothers’ cresting arms.
Hairoun, where Cupid languished in loving stupor, As Dionysius frolicked amidst her green pastures, Listening to the gossip of the loquacious brook Courting the stones below. Home, where the flowers compete with the setting sun, And the gentle trade winds diffuse their perfumed garlands.
Here where Mars rested for many a year, This is my birthplace, Home of the blessed, Hairouna, Home of the blessed.
