Letter of gratitude to Julian Jack, former CEO of the SVGTCCU

Dear Julian,

I hope this letter finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible impact you have had on my life as a father figure and mentor. Your mentorship has been a guiding light in my personal and professional development.

Your wisdom, experience, and insights helped me develop a vision for my future, and your support and encouragement have been instrumental in helping me achieve my goals. You gave me an opportunity for my first job with the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Teachers Co-operative Credit Union LTD (SVGTCCU) as an Accounting Clerk. Over the next 12 years, I gained critical on-the-job training and was able to advance through the accounting ranks at the SVGTCCU.

Thirty years ago, at the height of my athletic career, you called me into your office at SVGTCCU and inquired about my plans after my football and cricket career. It appeared to be a strange question. I was living my best life, representing St. Vincent and the Grenadines in both sporting disciplines. However, that question and subsequent conversation resulted in us putting a plan in place for me to pursue higher education in accounting. That plan changed my life.

After I left SVGTCCU, you consistently demonstrated a genuine interest in my growth and success, and your willingness to share your knowledge and expertise remained invaluable to me. Your ability to challenge and inspire me to push beyond my limits has made a difference. It helped me navigate through acquiring my Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) credential from the Association of Chartered Certified Accounts and eventually earning a BSc in Accounting. I am deeply grateful for the time and effort you have invested in my growth.

You would be proud to know that today, I am a comptroller at Public Health Management Corporation, a non-profit public health institute and one of the largest and most comprehensive public health organizations in the United States.

As I progress in my personal and professional journey, I will always carry the lessons and values you have instilled. Your mentorship has been a catalyst in my life, and I am forever grateful for all you have done for me.

Thank you for being a father figure, an incredible mentor, a role model, and a friend. Your influence on my life will continue to inspire me for years, and I look forward to continuing your legacy of mentorship.
