A dream come true for Youlou Arts Foundation
This was indeed a very special evening for the organization. It was the realization of a dream! For many years the organization has been focusing on fund-raising towards establishing an Art Centre and Gallery for St Vincent and the Grenadines.
The event was attended by a large crowd of art lovers, who came out to celebrate and support the organizationâs accomplishment. It was indeed an enchanting evening.
The Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture, Cecil McKie, was present and addressed the audience about the importance of having an art centre.
The cutting of the ribbon, declaring the centre open, was done by Camille Saunders Musser, founder of Youlou Arts Foundation.
The event also marked the 3rd annual Art Show. This show was open to all local visual artists. The show consists of roughly 60 pieces of artwork from 16 artists. There are paintings, photography and sculpture from driftwood. The show continues until March 31.
This successful event was produced by the hard work of many people. Youlou Arts Foundation sincerely thanks all those who helped, especially the planning committee, whose members are: Lenore Layne, Camille Crichton, Sean Roache, Kenlyn Alves, Ruth Knights, and Eleanor Astaphan.
The artists taking part in the show are: Jade Gonsalves, Robert Joyette, Cecile Comblen, Leeandra Thompson, Marc Erdrich, Christine Browne, Sherika Sayers, Shonette Bynoe, Sean Roache, Tipi Punnett, Daniel Stewart, Kingsley Roberts, Owen Ralph, Connie Howard, Zen Punnett and Camille Musser.
Youlou Arts Foundation is encouraging the public to come to the centre to see and enjoy the show. Schoolchildren are especially welcome!
The Centre is open Monday to Thursday from 10 :30 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There is a small art shop, which sells handmade jewelry, T-shirts, and a limited supply of drinks.
Youlou Arts Foundation is asking the public for its continued support.
